ActiKidz data deletion
Learn how to request deletion of your ActiKidz account data and related personal information.
ActiKidz respects your right to delete personal information held by us under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial regulations. This page explains the deletion workflow, what we can delete, what we are required to retain, and how long it takes.
How to request deletion
Sign in and open Profile > Privacy > Data deletion to submit a request with one click. If you cannot sign in (for example, the account was closed), email support@actikidz.com from the address on file with the subject "Data deletion request" and we will verify your identity before proceeding.
What we delete
- Account identity records (name, email, phone, password hash, profile photo, language and timezone preferences).
- Family records you own — child profiles, growth notes, family files, learning goals — including any uploaded documents.
- In-app messages and notification history that belong to your account.
- Marketing preferences and subscription state.
What we retain and why
- Financial records — invoices, refunds, tax records — retained for 7 years to satisfy Canadian tax and audit obligations.
- Class report content owned by a provider — when a teacher writes a class report about a child, the provider retains the report as part of their business records; deleting your account removes your access but does not remove the provider's copy. You may request the provider to delete it separately.
- Security and abuse logs — retained for up to 12 months to investigate fraud, unauthorized access, and platform abuse.
- De-identified aggregates — totals such as "courses booked per city per month" do not identify you and are not subject to deletion.
How long it takes
We confirm receipt of your request within 5 business days and complete deletion within 30 days, in line with PIPEDA timelines. Complex requests (for example, joint family accounts or provider business records) may take up to 60 days; we will let you know if so.
If your account has active financial activity
If your account has open invoices, pending refunds, or active provider subscriptions, we will ask you to resolve those first or convert the account to a closed-but-billing-only state. Identity records are deleted; financial records remain for the legally required retention window.
Children's data
A parent or legal guardian may request deletion of a child's profile at any time through the family portal, or via the email workflow above. We do not require a court order for parental deletion requests.
Provider operations data
Closing a provider account triggers a separate workflow because operations data is co-owned with the studio's teachers and branches. We will guide you through exporting necessary records (student rosters, class history, financial reports) before deletion.
